Welcome to Bayfield, WI and the WLIA Fall 2019 Regional Meeting!

Kate Kitchell

City of Bayfield
Chair, Parks & Recreation Committee
Kate served over 40 years in the Department of the Interior, including the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), National Park Service (NPS), and U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in 8 western states.  In these capacities, she was responsible for sustainable multiple-use management of millions of acres of public lands.  This required working collaboratively with elected officials, public land users, special interest groups, scientists, and diverse professional staffs. She is an avid believer in building long-term commitment to resources stewardship through education and engaging all citizens, young and old.

She is currently a member of the City’s Parks and Recreation Committee, and in this role she is spearheading efforts to enhance recreational opportunities and protection in the Big Ravine Preserve. She also works closely with the Landmark Conservancy (previously BRC), with a focus on helping to strengthen coordination between Landmark and the City in a manner the benefits all.

She has a B.S. in Botany and Environmental Conservation from the University of New Hampshire and a M.S. in Natural Resources Policy from Utah State University. She has participated in and taught sessions on leadership and collaboration.
